Understanding Dry Eye Relief

Dry eye happens when your eyes don’t make enough tears, or the tears evaporate too quickly. It becomes more common with age, with certain medications, and in Florida’s climate. Left untreated, it can cause ongoing discomfort and even affect the surface health of your eye.

Many people put up with dry eye for years assuming nothing can be done — but effective treatment is available once we pinpoint what’s driving it.

Symptoms of dry eye

Burning, stinging, or scratchy sensation

A feeling of grittiness or something in your eye

Redness and irritation

Watery eyes (the eye over-produces tears to compensate)

Blurry vision that comes and goes

Discomfort with screens, reading, or wind

How We Help

We start by examining your eyes and identifying the underlying cause of your dry eye — it’s rarely one-size-fits-all. From there we create a treatment plan that may include targeted drops, lifestyle adjustments, and in-office therapies designed to restore comfort.

Our goal is simple: get you back to comfortable, clear vision for the things you do every day.

Common Questions About Dry Eye

What causes dry eye? Your eyes either don’t make enough tears or the tears evaporate too quickly. It’s especially common in seniors, and can be worsened by certain medications, screen time, and Florida’s climate.

What does it feel like? Burning, grittiness, redness, fluctuating or blurry vision, and — counterintuitively — watery eyes, as your eyes over-produce low-quality tears to compensate.

How do you treat it? We start by pinpointing the cause, then build a plan that may include prescription drops, lifestyle adjustments, and in-office treatments. Dry eye is also something we watch for during a senior eye exam.
